The shaped backs executed in superbly figured mahogany and upholstered in tufted leather, on molded stiles with scroll form spandrels; the reeded seat rail above sabre legs ending in the original brass box caps and castors.

This pair of chairs is of near identical form to a set of fourteen supplied by the firm of Gillingtons of Dublin to Euseby Cleaver, Archbishop of Dublin 1809–1820. Gillingtons was one of Ireland's pre-eminent cabinetmakers of the 19th century.
