Description
A later rectangular mirror plate within a pair of narrow architectural pilasters and pierced foliate frame with C-scrolls and flowering branches, the cresting centered by a flower-filled urn surmounted by a pagoda with acanthus-carved roof, the apron with C-scrolls and centered by a cabochon and flowerhead carving. Painted throughout, retaining traces of original green finish. Paper label of Wakefield carvers and gilders Messrs Abraham and Sons to rear.
Forming part of the furnishings supplied to Sir Rowland Winn, 4th Baronet (d. 1765) of Nostell Priory, Yorkshire, celebrated for its Chippendale furniture; possibly introduced to the house in the 19th century by a descendant of Winn.
