Additional Information

With its superb quality, exotic timbers (including cedar for the drawer linings) and unique lacquered brass mouldings, authorship of this commode can likely be assigned to Mayhew and Ince. See L. Wood, Catalog of Commodes, London, 1994, p. 195, no. 22 for a commode with identical mouldings.
