Description
The serpentine crestrail with scrolled ears, above a pierced Gothik latticework back and armrests, with drop-in upholstered seat, on square chamfered legs joined by stretchers.
Like his better known contemporary Thomas Chippendale, Robert Manwaring (active 1760–ca. 1770) published many designs for chair backs in the highly fashionable Chinese taste. He published
