Description

Each with foliate-carved cartouche-shaped back upholstered in wool needlework centering a coat of arms in petit point; the padded and acanthus-carved rollover armrests with double C-scroll supports; the large needlepoint-upholstered seat over carved shaped aprons; raised on four exuberantly carved cabriole legs terminating in scrolled feet with ceramic casters. The arms are of the Wilson family of Eshton Hall, with the motto 'RES NON VERBA' (Deeds Not Words).

An early example of rococo revival probably by Bradford cabinetmaker Joseph Williamson.
