Description
The rectangular top with sliding panel reversing to a chessboard and opening to a leather-lined backgammon well with ebony and fruitwood edges; flanked by rounded ends with pierced gallery; the spindle trestle base joined by stretchers and ending in downswept feet with castors. Formerly with work basket.
The "spindle-end" table is a hallmark of Gillows' table design of the early 19th century.
